project overview
A Way Home Kamloops co-founded and co-chairs the B.C. Coalition to End Youth Homelessness. As part of this work, we provide a monthly report to the Homelessness Action Plan Leads on a challenges, roles or priorities related to different government ministries. For example, we did a report on MCFD and the Coalition gathered information from across the province and compiled it into a report . We then discuss the report with the Homelessness Action Plan leads and they then set up a teleconference with the relevant Minister and/or staff. PBSC Student volunteers will draft seven (7) short policy briefs on the different ministry roles related to youth homelessness: Ministry of Children & Family Development, Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Public Safety, Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions, Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs, and one other Ministry. These would be short 1-3 pager policy briefs that would be used by the Co-chairs to aid their discussions with the various ministers . six student volunteers are required for this project.
