Access to justice british columbia A2JBC is a network of people and organizations connecting with each other to realize a common vision - access to family and civil justice for all British Columbians
project information
The “Path” referred to in this initiative is the path of families experiencing separation or divorce. The big vision of the Pathfinder project is that all BC families who are on that path, wherever they live, are connected to the services they need so that they can navigate it in a way that promotes, rather than undermines their well-being. This year students will build on the work of students on the project last year and further develop a detailed outline of referral resources for family justice projects around Kamloops. In conjunction with the relationships prior Family Justice Pathfinder and prior Pro Bono students have already formed with a number of local service providers, students will design a referral resource that would be useful for trusted intermediaries around town (i.e. not for people seeking legal help directly, but for agencies that provide referrals). The idea would be to further connect different groups in the Kamloops community through cross referrals to ensure clients are referred correctly and most efficiently able to access services that are available. The project will require four (4) students.
expectations of students
Students are expected to volunteer 3-5 hours per week. the schedule for hours is flexible. first year students can volunteer on this project, but preference will be given to students who have taken family law.
