project overview

organization overview

kamloops immigrant services
Kamloops Immigrant Services (KIS) is an agency devoted to welcoming immigrants and newcomers to Kamloops and the surrounding areas. KIS provides a host of confidential services free to eligible participants. Our primary goal is to support newcomers to settle into the community and assist with integration to Canadian society through a welcoming and inclusive philosophy.

project overview

Students will help to organize and prepare a FAQ brochure on civic bylaws. Students will conduct
research and work with Kamloops Immigrant Services to identify the most common areas of need
and clarification. Kamloops Immigrant Services has identified questions such as: What is a bylaw?
How can a complaint be filed? What are the next steps if a complaint is filed against you? What is the difference between a police office and a bylaw officer? Can a bylaw infraction effect your immigration status? The brochure must be reviewed and approved by the supervising lawyer, and time permitting, the students may also present a PLE for clients of KIS provided the supervising lawyer is able to be present at the event.

two students are required for this project.
