legal services society The Legal Services Society (LSS) is a non-profit organization created by the LSS Act in 1979 to provide legal information, advice, and representation services to people with low incomes. Most people call us Legal Aid BC. Our priority is to serve the interests of people with low incomes. But many of our services are available to all British Columbians.
project overview
LiveHelp is an instant messaging service that the LSS has added to their Family Law Website (FLWS) so clients can ask questions and receive legal information online regarding family law issues in general as well as how to access information on the FLWS in particular. Students involved in this project will provide remote online support alongside the staff at LiveHelp and subject to the review and approval of the supervising lawyer, provide research supportto update, revise and continue to expend the Frequently Ask Questions (FAQ) information database. four students are required for this project.
expectation of students
students will be provided with initial training and on-the-task training. volunteers are expected to put in 3-5 hours per week. students will be required to dedicate a set schedule to this project, to be agree upon by the student and the lss. the lss would like students who have a background, either through work or school, in family law or social justice. This background is not a requirement.
